Background of Attiin Shaw
Attiin Shaw (born Rachmawati) is originally from Indonesia. She is married to Michael Patrick Shaw, whom she met while he was working as an American expatriate teacher in Indonesia. The couple have four children together.
The family lived together in Indonesia before moving to Myanmar in 2019, after her husband’s work contract ended. In 2020, the family moved to the United States, prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2021, Attiin was a resident of Washburn, Maine in Aroostook County. She lived with her husband and four children in a house on Washburn Road.
Disappearance of
On September 8, 2021, Attiin Shaw was last seen at her residence in Washburn, Maine.
Attiin suffered from bipolar disorder, a condition which caused her to experience angry outbursts. She had a history of leaving home for extended periods of time as a way to protect her children from her outbursts.
Attin never left for more than a month in the past, and also stayed active on social media before returning home to her family. She once posted pictures of herself relaxing in Bali during one of those episodes when the family lived in Indonesia.
Attiin Shaw never returned home this time and hasn’t been heard from since.
In late November 2021, her husband filed a missing person’s report with the Washburn Police Department. The couple had an agreement where her husband was to contact authorities if Attiin was ever gone for more than a month.
Investigation of Attiin Shaw
Attiin speaks limited English and did not have a driver’s license or a mode of transportation at the time of her disappearance. There is no record of her entering into Indonesia nor of her passport ever being used to leave the country.
According to authorities there is no evidence showing that Attiin is living at another location.
Attiin’s bank account and social media have had no activity since she disappeared in 2021.
On February 14, 2024, Maine State Police performed a search at the Shaw’s residence in Washburn. No additional details have been released regarding what evidence, if any, was found during the search.

The circumstances of Attiin Shaw’s disappearance remain unclear and her case is currently classified as missing. Her case remains unsolved.
