Two parents are facing child abu*se charges after their baby displayed “suspicious medical issues last week.
On Tuesday, September 10, medical professionals alerted the Henry County Sheriff’s Office about a 2-month-old in their care who was showing bodily injuries they deemed to be out of the ordinary.
An investigation was launched into the baby’s parents, Leah Michell Lee Zicot and Dalton Tyler Bennett, who live together on Wimberly Road in Paris. The investigation found the infant’s injuries to be “non-accidental,” and they occurred while the baby was under the parents’ care, the HCSO reported.
Both Zicot and Bennett were arrested on September 12 and charged with aggravated child ab*use and neglect. They remain in custody on a $800,000 bond.
The case remains under investigation by HCSO, the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, the District Attorney’s office, and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
