Shannon Collins is a proud military veteran. Shannon loved to root for the Yankees, go to church, and had many, many friends.
Shannon was born on November 1, 1972. He joined the military out of high school and served his country for 21 years.
While we don’t know the details or circumstances, and that’s okay, Shannon did retire as a disabled veteran and was able to collect military benefits for that.
In 2021, Shannon was living in Pottsville, Arkansas which definitely would be considered part of the Ozark region. Pottsville is about an hour’s drive away from the nearest big city, which would be Little Rock.
In November of 2021, after not being able to reach Shannon for several months and becoming increasingly worried, his brother reported him missing. When law enforcement followed up with Shannon’s wife, they were told that Shannon actually left the house on foot in the early morning hours of March 12, 2021, and never returned.
Opinions vary greatly on what might have happened to Shannon, but the circumstances are definitely suspicious.
Where is Shannon Lee Collins?
Shannon was born on November 1, 1972. He joined the military after High School and worked his way up to becoming a sergeant. Everyone who served with Shannon in the military throughout the years continues to speak very highly of him. He was dedicated to his country and a good friend, and servicemember to his fellow soldiers.
He would go on to retire and was able to begin collecting benefits. He was listed as ‘disabled’ but his exact injury isn’t’ identified.
Shannon was stationed for at least 8 years at Camp Joseph Robinson in North Little Rock. I tried to find marriage records, but I can only confirm that he was married in 2021 and that his wife had at least two children that were likely not his just due to the way it was mentioned in one article.
In 2021, Shannon was retired and living in Pottsville, Arkansas. Pottsville is a small town, an hour northwest of Little Rock. Pottsville is a small town, with just over 3,000 residents.
It’s a small town physically- or geographically- as well, covering just over 7 square miles.
By November of 2021, Shannon’s brother, who lived out of state, started checking with other family members to see if anyone had talked to Shannon. He hadn’t spoken to him since February and was starting to get worried. It’s likely they weren’t that close, or he would have been worried much sooner, but when he learned that not one other family member had spoken to Shannon since February, he called authorities and reported his brother missing.
Law Enforcement took the report and immediately headed over to Shannon’s home which he shared with his wife.
Her name has not been released, so I’m going to have to keep referring to her simply as ‘Shannon’s Wife’. She told authorities that for some reason, in the very early morning hours of March 12 of that year, Shannon left the home on foot and never came back. However, she did say that she and her children had been in contact with him by phone since then but did not know where he was, She felt he left because he wanted to and was therefore not a missing person. She didn’t think there was any reason to contact authorities and report Shannon as a missing person.
While talking to most people they could find who knew Shannon, they couldn’t find anyone else to confirm that they had spoken to Shannon since his disappearance.
Family and close friends said that Shannon would never completely abandon everyone and disappear.
When the Pope County Sheriff’s Department posted Shannon’s missing person poster and information on their Facebook page, everyone was confused why it had taken too long to report him missing. One commenter, however, said that he had seen Shannon in September, but no additional information was ever brought forth about that.
People certainly do have the right to go missing, and we have to respect that, but authorities have not confirmed that Shannon is alive and well and living…anywhere. If he is, all he would need to do is contact authorities and let them know.
Law enforcement has also said in the few articles that were posted about Shannon’s disappearance that Shannon’s parents, brothers, and sisters have all been very cooperative with authorities. But there has never been any mention of a wife included in that. Does that mean she has not been cooperative? By leaving her out of that statement, it does make you wonder.
So what could have happened to Shannon?
Did he walk off to start fresh somewhere? Some people do believe this. If his wife and her children are telling the truth, along with the man who commented on the Pope County Facebook page that he saw Shannon, it would seem that Shannon is living a life out there somewhere unknown. Although he has left no digital trail, law enforcement is also watching his social security number, his military benefits, and financial records and there has been no activity. Shannon used to also be very active on social media, and all those accounts have been quiet since his disappearance.
Was he emotionally unstable and went off to harm himself? While it’s possible, there is absolutely no evidence of such.
Did Shannon meet with foul play? Many believe the actions of his wife and his children are suspicious. Or, did Shannon have any enemies out there? Nothing has come forward to indicate he did, but you never know. Foul play could have also been random- a robbery gone wrong or just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Regardless of what happened to Shannon, where is he?
Shannon is described as a Caucasian male, about 5’10 inches tall and weighing around 220 pounds when he was last seen in March of 2021. He was 48 years old and will be turning 50 later this year. Shannon has brown hair and blue eyes.
