A man found with ‘grave’ head trauma in Los Angeles has sparked a mystery as cops and hospital staff cannot identify him after over a week.
Officials continue to plead for help naming the unidentified victim, who was found with only Japanese currency in his wallet.
The patient, an Asian man suspected to be in his mid-20s, was found October 9 in the 3700 block of South Meyler Street- a residential neighborhood.
He was found with a black backpack that contained travel-size hygiene products and a wallet with only Japanese currency inside.
He suffered a traumatic brain injury, leaving him unconscious. He was intubated and sedated as of last Wednesday at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where he was listed as in grave condition.
A photograph of the victim has been released by the health department has been viewed by over 16 million people on X, KTLA reported.
Authorities have revealed that the unknown man is 5-feet-10-inches tall and weighs approximately 158 pounds.
He also didn’t have any identifiable tattoos, scars or marks on his body.
It is unclear how exactly he sustained his intense injuries.
Since he’s been discovered, many have taken to social media and asked for others to share the man’s photo and description to help find his family and friends.
‘Hey friends, apparently they found this unknown young man in San Pedro, California, with a traumatic brain injury. He had Japanese currency in his wallet. I know a lot of my friends have Japanese friends or connections. Could you share to find his next of kin?
His family needs to be with him but he didn’t have and ID. Someone’s son is really really hurt right now. He may be a Japanese tourist or just came back from visiting family,’ a person on Facebook who reposted his picture states.
‘Despite being viewed by millions of people on social media, the case of an unidentified young man who was found with a severe head injury earlier this month still has not been solved,’ the Facebook post read.
A missing people’s Facebook group also reposted his story and said: ‘Help find his family.’
Another post said: ‘Does anyone know this young man? There is a phone number to call at the end of the story.’
