Virginia State Police has cancelled the AMBER alert for three children who were abducted from Fishersville and an arrest has been made.
Shanice Davison, 35, of Evergreen, Alabama has been arrested on the outstanding warrants from VSP.
The Alabama Highway Patrol and US Marshall Service took Davison into custody in the Birmingham area of Alabama after a brief pursuit on I-495.
Davison was taken into custody without incident. All three children were safe and unharmed.
After conducting an investigation into the Thursday’s kidnapping, officials said they have determined the children’s estranged biological mother, Shanice Davison, was responsible for their disappearance.
Evidence suggests the mother was traveling with the children and “likely on the way back to Alabama,” according to the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office.
Davison is wanted by ACSO for three counts of felony abduction.
“The safety and well-being of the children remain our highest priority, and we are working diligently with law enforcement agencies across state lines to locate them,” the release said.
Virginia State Police had issued an AMBER Alert for the three children:
- Jai’Marcus Lewis, 10, Black male
- Ja’Miyah Lewis, 8, Black female
- Ja’Liyah Lewis, 6, Black female
The children were believed to be in “extreme danger,” according to the AMBER alert. The ACSO release described Davison as 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 185 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.
ACSO responded to a 911 call from the children’s parent at 8:27 a.m. The three children were “waiting for the bus, when a black 4-door vehicle pulled up to the bus stop, and took the children,” according to the ACSO.
The AMBER Alert later clarified the vehicle is possibly a newer model Nissan Sentra with an unknown tag.
Both Ja’Miyah and Ja’Liyah were both wearing pink jackets, while Jai’Marcus was wearing a black and dark blue jacket with neon zippers, ACSO said. Before they were found, the children were last seen at approximately 7:40 a.m. when they left for the bus stop.
“This is an active investigation, and we are committed to reuniting the children with their legal guardians as quickly and safely as possible,” said Augusta County Sheriff Donald Smith.
