The body of a Fort Campbell soldier reported missing out of Henry County was recovered from Kentucky Lake on Friday.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) recovered the body of 22-year-old John Michael Jackson from Kentucky Lake at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27, according to a Facebook post from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Recovery efforts had reportedly been underway since the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 25, and while the effort was continued on Thursday, the agency said that efforts were limited by weather. On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office had received reports of an abandoned vehicle on the Paris Landing Bridge, and an investigation was started due to belongings in the vehicle.
“Officers believed that the driver of the vehicle, Mr. Jackson, had jumped from the bridge,” the post reads.
The post said that on Friday at roughly 6:15 p.m., the TWRA was checking the shoreline at Gray’s Landing and spotted Jackson’s body.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jackson family and we hope the recovery provides a sense of closure to the family,” the post reads, in part. “The Henry County Sheriffs Office would like to thank the numerous agencies involved in the search and recovery efforts.”
