“I’m sorry, I love you,” Mrs. Barbara Denmark told her 23-year-old grandson as he stabbed her to d*eath. Christopher Chase Whaley of Lake Wales, Florida, stabbed Mrs. Denmarrk more than 25 times as she bathed after an argument over the time he needed to come home from a party.
After stabbing his grandmother, Whaley called 9–1–1 to report what he’d done. He allegedly told the dispatcher, “Come get me.” When authorities arrived, Whaley was kneeling over the bathtub cradling the 69-year-old’s head in his hands. He confessed to k*illing his grandmother, telling police he intended to go to his aunt’s house and ki*ll everyone inside.
Asked why he did not continue with his plans, Whaley said hearing his grandmother’s last words of love stopped him from hurting anyone else.
‘Chris is angry because he’s been forced to come home and couldn’t stay with his new best friends and party so he decides, ‘I’ll just k*ill grandmother. Not only her but I’ll ki*ll my aunt,’’ said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd to Tampa Bay Online.

He went on to confess that he grabbed two knives out of the kitchen and found his grandmother in the bathtub. He began stabbing her repeatedly with each knife. Whaley had lived in the home with Mrs. Denmark for five years at the time of the 2012 attack.
Whaley was sentenced to life in prison.
