A jealous “monster” who admitted to ripping out his girlfriend’s intestines because she said her ex-husband’s name twice during se*x has been given a life sentence without the chance of parole.
Police said that Fidel Lopez, 26, got “enraged” while having se*x with Maria Nemeth, 31, in a closet in her Sunrise, Florida apartment.
“She called me by the name of the other f guy,” he told police about the victim after the mu*rder in September 2015. “And she said it twice, which was wrong, and she got me and him mixed up.” I get mad at this point. It makes me very angry.”
Lopez told police that he turned into a “monster” and became very angry. He broke things around the flat before attacking his girlfriend, who had passed out from drinking too much, with a lot of violence.
While the 31-year-old was out of it, he pushed things like a hair iron, a beer bottle, and his fist and arms up to his elbows into Ms. Nemeth’s vagina and anus, tearing out intestinal tissue.
Seeing that she wasn’t breathing, he tried to bring her back to life by splashing water on her face, but it didn’t work. After that, he called the police.
Lopez was arrested when police arrived at Ms Nemeth’s flat and saw the bloody scene.
At first, he tried to say that Ms. Nemeth’s horrible wounds were caused by rough se*x.
To stay alive, he changed his plea from “not guilty” to “guilty” last month. He will now be locked up for life without the chance of getting out.
CBS Miami reports that Lopez told Ms. Nemeth’s family he was sorry at the Broward County Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, after getting his sentence.
His words, “Today, I am happy to fulfil this conviction,” said it all. “I know I need to pay for what I did, and I agree…” He said, “I will pay for the life I took with my own.” “Please forgive me, Maria’s family.”
At the sentencing, Ms. Nemeth’s family said they were heartbroken over her death.
Juan Cavezudo, Maria’s uncle, said, “If I had to sum up Maria’s life in a few lines, it would be very hard.” She was and will always be an example of love, kindness, hard work, and persistence.
