A judge decided on Tuesday to sentence a Wisconsin woman who was found guilty of k*illing her lover, sexually abusing his corpse, and dismembering it to life in prison without the possibility of release.
During a meth-fueled tryst in the basement of Shad Thyrion’s mother’s Green Bay house in February 2022, 25-year-old Taylor Schabusiness stran*gled Thyrion to de*ath.
Then, she told investigators, she used kitchen knives to cut off his head and penis.
According to the Green Bay Post-Gazette, Brown County Circuit Judge Walsh stated, “The offence in this case can’t be overstated,” before imposing the sentence. “You seem to be out of high praise. Where are the pieces of the victim cut up? These behaviours are alien. There really aren’t enough words to describe how they shock the community.
Schabusiness appeared to be wearing a spit hood over her face during her sentencing on Tuesday.
When Walsh asked her if there was anything she’d like to say, she replied “No, there isn’t.”
After just fifty minutes of deliberation on July 26, the jury found Schabusiness guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, third-degree sexual assault, and mutilating a corpse. The following day, they turned down her plea of insanity.
In an astonishing statement to the court prior to the sentencing, Shad’s father, Michael Thyrion, told Schabusiness that he forgave her for taking his son’s life, according to the Post-Gazette.
“I forgive you, Taylor, for what you did to my son. You made a poor decision,” he remarked. “Shad will be missed by me. He was also a very nice youngster.
“I think everyone makes poor decisions, though maybe not to this extent,” he went on. Hatred of you accomplishes nothing. I am aware that you have a heart and a mind.
Schabusiness revealed that her lover’s head was the “first thing I took off” and that she was “very” excited about mistreating his corpse in a startling police interview that was shown to the jury during the trial.
The young mother said, “I was sucking and cutting at the same time.”
She admitted that she had started choking her boyfriend as a kind of foreplay, but Detective David Graf of the Green Bay Police Department testified that she “enjoyed it” and “wanted to see what would happen” if she kept going.
According to Graf, Schabusiness claimed that she cuddled her boyfriend’s corpse after chopping off his head.
“She explained that she played with his penis during their sexual encounter. Furthermore, she mentioned that she put a dildo in his mouth. Additionally, the detective informed the jury that she had also petted the corpse.
In the basement, Thyrion’s mother found her son’s head in a bucket.
Schabusiness’s grandmother, who testified on her behalf, has a 2-year-old son who is currently being adopted.
In court, her father Arturo Coronado—who is presently incarcerated for 12 years after sexually abusing a child—testimoniated while clad in an orange jumpsuit and shackles.
Schabusiness assaulted her former lawyer in February during a hearing, and a deputy had to wrestle her to the ground.
