Disappearance
On January 6, 2023, Eric Fischer last spoke with his girlfriend, sharing the difficulties he was having for the last couple of days and apologized about “things that were not going well.”
Around noon on January 8, 2023, Eric was captured on surveillance camera at a Walmart store in Macomb, Illinois. He purchased a blue and black HUFFY mountain bicycle, an air pump, a gray backpack, and deodorant.
Eric took the bike to the parking lot and filled the tires before riding away. Two hours later he told his ex-wife not to bring the children over in a text message that “seemed suicidal in nature.”
Eric hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
Eric’s ex-wife called the police after receiving the cryptic text message and met with police at his apartment. A missing person’s report was immediately issued when authorities discovered he was not at home.
Investigation
Authorities conducted a search in the area northeast of Macomb for Eric Fischer, but no additional clues as to his whereabouts were found.
Eric’s cell phone last pinged to a cell tower near 14955 East 1600th Street in Macomb, about five miles from the Walmart where Eric purchased the bicycle.

Police found no evidence for foul play in Eric Fischer’s disappearance. The circumstances of Eric’s disappearance remain unclear and his case is currently classified as missing. His case remains unsolved.

White male with brown hair and brown eyes. Eric stands 5’11” tall and weighs 170 pounds.
Distinctive Physical Features:
Eric has a heart tattoo on his chest, a sleeve tattoo on his right arm with an eagle, a tiger, a girl and lightning, and an eagle on his throat. He has a 2-inch scar on his left hand and a long beard.
Clothing and accessories:
Eric was last seen wearing a black JEEP hoodie, a black/gray Northface coat, blue jeans and black tennis shoes. He was wearing a black baseball cap and sunglasses.
