17-year-old Nathaniel Holmes was last seen in Westminster, Colorado on December 19, 2017. He disappeared that morning after being dropped off at school by his mother.

Background

Nathaniel James William Holmes was born on November 5, 2000. He grew up with two older sisters and a younger brother, and lived with his father after his parents divorced when he was 8. All four children regularly visited their mother.

Nathaniel initially attended Arvada High School in Arvada, Colorado, where he was described as shy and introverted. He decided to try a homeschooling program in the fall of 2017 when things were not working out.

At the time of his disappearance, Nathaniel was living with his father and siblings in Arvada, Colorado. He had recently been enrolled at Hidden Lake High School which provides an alternative program designed to help struggling students graduate.

Nathaniel enjoyed playing video games, hunting, and fishing. He had learned to play bagpipes and even performed alongside his father and his band, Celtic Legacy, at the Colorado Renaissance Festival in 2017.

Disappearance

On December 18, 2017, Nathaniel Holmes came home from school and appeared lethargic, not acting like himself. When he told his father that he took a Xanax from a friend it was decided that he should go stay with his mother so she could watch him closely.

On December 19, 2017, Nathaniel was last seen by his mother when she dropped him off for school at Hidden Lake High School on Lowell Boulevard & West 73rd Ave Venue in Westminster, Colorado.

Nathaniel did not immediately go to class that morning, instead he went looking for one of his friends in another classroom who was already seated and attending class.

When the school principal found him outside the door, Nathaniel said that he needed to speak to his friend, citing an emergency. The principal refused and told Nathaniel to get to class, but he left campus instead.

Nathaniel than went to a nearby park next to the library where he borrowed a woman’s cell phone to call his mother. He left her a voicemail, saying that he was going to get a ride with a friend of his father’s after school so she didn’t need to pick him up.

Nathaniel Holmes never returned home and hasn’t been heard from since. His family filed a missing person’s report with the Westminster Police Department when he didn’t come home.

Investigation

Nathaniel left all his personal belongings at home, including his IPad tablet, his driver’s license, and his passport. He disappeared without a phone or any money.

Authorities considered Nathaniel Holmes to be a runaway because of his age and initially believed he would return home on his own.

At the time of his disappearance, Nathaniel was reportedly using drugs after falling in with a bad crowd at school, according to his family.

Whereabouts

Police found no evidence of foul play in Nathaniel Holmes’s disappearance. A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Nathaniel’s discovery.

The circumstances of Nathaniel’s disappearance remain unclear and his case is currently classified as missing. His case remains unsolved.

White male born on November 5, 2000. Nathaniel has strawberry blonde hair, blue eyes, stands 5’9 tall, and weighs 140 pounds.

Distinctive Physical Features:
Nathaniel has a mole on his lower cheek and a scar on his abdomen above his belly button.

Clothing and accessories:
Nathaniel was last seen wearing a black hoodie with words “Mirage Recovery,” blue jeans, and black tennis shoes with white bottoms.
