Sky Metalwala was last seen in Bellevue, Washington, in the early hours of November 6, 2011. Sky’s mom said she left her 2-year-old in the parked car on the side of I-405 while she went to pay for gas nearby. Julie said the car ran out of gas while she was taking her sick son to the hospital. Sky was not there when she went back to the car almost two hours later. Since then, no one has seen him.

Sky’s Missing
Julie walked with her 2-year-old daughter to the gas station, which was about a mile away. Julie said Sky didn’t go because he was too sick to walk.
Julie told the police that Sky had gone missing almost two hours after she said she last saw him. Police searched a 20-block area nearby but couldn’t find the toddler with brown eyes.
Julie and Sky’s father, Solomon Metalwala, were getting a divorce before he disappeared. A few days before, Julie broke the agreement she had made with her soon-to-be ex-husband about who would have custody of Sky.
Inconsistencies in Julie’s Story
When police talked to Julie about her son’s disappearance, they noticed that her story didn’t make sense.
First, when the police looked at the car, they saw that it was full of gas. Also, the car was in good working order. Also, Julie forgot to lock the doors of the car before she left on foot to get gas. There were no signs that someone had broken into the car.
Details of what happened were a lot like an episode of Law & Order that aired in the Seattle area the night before. Julie also said she looked for her son in the area for almost an hour before calling the police, but she didn’t ask neighbors for help. Julie never went door-to-door to see if anyone saw her missing small child.
Julie hasn’t helped with the investigation. After the first interview with police, she wouldn’t talk to the investigators again. She has also turned down several polygraph tests.
People driving by did see Julie’s Acura parked on the side of the road that morning, but they didn’t see a child or anything else strange inside. A lot of people think Sky wasn’t in the car that morning because of this.
Police also found out that both Julie and Solomon admitted to leaving Sky alone in a car in 2009 before this.
Does Julie Know More About Her Son’s Disappearance?
Solomon has always helped the police with their investigations. 11 years ago, he said he would help the police in any way he could. He thinks Julie hurt their son because she was mad about who would have custody and that they were going to get divorced.
Julie and Solomon got a divorce soon after Sky went missing. She quickly got married again and had another son. A few years later, Julie and the child’s father split up. He was given custody, and Julie was told she couldn’t see the child without being watched. Julie told the judge about this while she was in court, saying that Solomona had broken a no-contact order she had issued against him.
Julie still won’t help with the case and tries to stay out of the public eye as much as possible.
The police think she knows what happened to her son.
“We do believe she knows where Sky is,” Bellevue Police Spokesperson Seth Tyler said.
Call 9-1-1, the Bellevue Police Department at 1-800-843-5678, or 1-800-THE-LOST if you know anything about this case or where Sky is. No one will know who you are if you want to.
