Alexander Kinyua attended Morgan State University where his father taught as a college professor. The Kenyan-born engineering student lived a seemingly normal life until 2011 when he attacked a fellow student. Prior to this event, Alexander was well-liked by his peers, smart, and outgoing.
Strange Behaviors
Alexander’s family said he became scared after terrible events like 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. His paranoid schizophrenia made him worry about things like this because he didn’t know if his family would be able to survive an attack.
Alex stopped going to church and spent more time in his bedroom at home. He locked food away in his bedroom because he was worried they would run out of food.
His hearing changed, and he thought that aliens were coming to destroy the earth. He felt like a prophet and had unique skills that no one else did.
His mom found some kind of “manuscript” too, but she said the book was full of “gibberish.” She tried to get her son help for his mental health, but things didn’t go as planned.
Alexander Attacks Roommate
He kil*led his roommate at Morgan State University because he said voices in his head told him to. A baseball bat was used to hit Joshua Ceasar. The man was then put in chains and barbed wire and left in the dorm. The man was attacked very badly and almost died, but luckily he lived. Two days before the attack, Kinyua wrote some strange rants on his Facebook page, such as this one:

THIS IS THE BRUTAL BASIS, AN EVIL & TERRIFYING METHOD OF THIS DEATH CULTS.
Kinyua was charged with aggravated assault and given a $220,000 bond. They got the money together and got him out of jail.
Mur*der While Out on Bail
K*illing and dis*membering a family friend named Kujoe Bonsafo Agyei-Kodi while he was out on bail was the worst thing Kinyua could have done.
The man was staying with the family until he was sent back to Kenya because he wasn’t following the rules of his visa. He met the father, Anthony Kinyua, while he was getting his PhD at Morgan State University.
Kinyua ki*lled, dis*membered, and burned Kodi with an ax, first taking out and eating the man’s heart. Kinyua may have eaten some of the man’s brain as well.
Brother Makes Gruesome Discovery
On May 31, 2012, Kinyua’s brother found what looked like body parts in two totes in the basement and called the police. As soon as police arrived, they confirmed that the body parts were indeed those of real people. More body parts were discovered in a dumpster at a church about a mile away from the house. At this point, Kinyua was arrested.
Not Criminally Responsible for M*urder
Police arrested Kinyua and charged him with mu*rder in the first degree and assault in the first and second degrees. Psychologists who checked him out confirmed that he was mentally unstable and a threat to himself and others. After finding him guilty but not cri*minally responsible for the mur*der, the court sent him to a Maryland mental hospital for life. He is still being held in the institution today.
