Two men have been arrested after allegedly plotting several despicable ways to take the lives of a mother and her baby, including setting a “large python” on the child.
Stephen Glosser, 37, and Caleb Kinsey, 34, were arrested and have been indicted on several federal charges for their alleged involvement with a home explosion in 2023.
According to a statement from the Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire in February 2023, Georgia authorities responded to an “explosion at a residential structure” on January 13, 2023.
The blast, which occurred around 5:00AM, was determined to be the result of an improvised explosive device, the statement revealed.
Fortunately, the individuals inside the home, identified as a woman and her child, managed to escape unharmed.
The woman and her child – whose identities have not been disclosed by authorities – had just moved into the residence the day before the explosion.
Sheriff Mark Crowe of Bryan County disclosed that the woman had a previous relationship with one of the suspects, although he did not specify which one.
While Glosser was apprehended locally, Kinsey was captured in Louisiana in February 2023, as stated in the official announcement.
More than a year later, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Georgia revealed in a press statement on Thursday that the men had been indicted on multiple charges.
According to the indictment, spanning from December 2022 to January 2023, Glosser and Kinsey reportedly devised various schemes to harm the victim and her daughter.
The pair allegedly used cell phones to devise their plan involving various extreme methods, such as “shooting arrows into the victim’s front door, acquiring and releasing ‘a large python into the victim’s home to eat the victim’s daughter,’ mailing dog feces or d*ead rats to the victim’s home, scalping the victim, and blowing up the victim’s home.”
Authorities claim that Kinsey took the lead in acquiring and constructing the explosive using Tannerite, which was later detonated to “blow up the victim’s house” on January 13, 2023.
The men are facing charges including stalking, using an explosive to commit a felony, and conspiracy, among others. Kinsey faces additional charges of providing false statements during the purchase of a firearm and possession of firearms as a felon.
It remains unclear whether the men have entered pleas at this time.
