Background
Terrence Woods Jr. was born on October 24, 1991. He grew up in Capitol Heights, Maryland. His parents are divorced and he has a younger brother.
In 2013, Woods graduated from University of Maryland. He spent five years in London, UK where he attended American International University. He graduated with a double master’s degree and went on to work on shows like The Voice UK.
In 2018, Woods returned to the US and was living at his father’s home in Maryland. He worked as a production assistant on television crews.
Disappearance
On September 30, 2018, Terrence Woods Jr. was dropped off by his father at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Arlington, Washington. He took a flight to Montana for work, and called his father upon arrival to tell him everything went well.
While in Montana, Woods met with a 12-person crew to shoot the first season of Gold Rush: Dave Turin’s Lost Mine, a documentary series on Discovery Channel from the London based production company Raw TV.
On October 3, 2018, Woods called his father and unexpectedly said he was coming home early on the 10th but didn’t explain why. Woods, along with the filming crew, arrived in Idaho the next day and everything seemed normal.
In an email sent to Raw, the production company he worked for, Woods claimed he was cutting his trip short due to concerns over his mother’s health.
On October 5, 2018, the crew went out to start filming the Penman Mines documentary in Orogrande, Nez Perce National Forest, Idaho. Woods’ last post on social media was a picture of a forest captioned with one word, “Idaho.”
According to crew members, Woods reportedly started to act strange that day and attempted to “grab a drone out of the sky.” He was also said to have had an anxiety attack earlier that morning although he wasn’t known by family to suffer from anxiety.
Around 5:30 pm, as the filming crew was packing up and ending production for the day, Woods told one of the two local women, who had been helping with transport, that he needed to use the bathroom.
Soon after, Woods suddenly left the group and ran down a steep cliff. He took his belt off, along with his radio, and dropped it on the ground before disappearing into the woods.
Terrence Woods Jr. never showed up after that day and hasn’t been heard from since. The crew members filed a missing person’s report with the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office that evening when Terrence failed to return.
Investigation
In the 911 call that was made to report Woods missing, a crew member stated “Terrence has been having a really hard time emotionally and had a mental breakdown earlier today.” According to family members, Woods had no history of mental illness or health issues.
Authorities conducted an extensive seven day search of the area for Terrence Woods Jr. with the help of dog teams, ground searchers, and rescue helicopters, but no clues as to his whereabouts were found.
Crew members told police that they weren’t able to catch up to Woods due to the rough and unpredictable terrain in Orogrande. They tried to track his steps, and believe he got down to the road before they lost him.
Woods’ phone records, bank account, and social media have had no activity since he disappeared.
Whereabouts
Police found no evidence for foul play in Terrence Woods Jr.’s disappearance. The circumstances of Terrence’s disappearance remain unclear and his case is currently classified as missing. His case remains unsolved.
