Jonett did not have a very large social circle. She is divorced and single, and is the mother of a 23-year-old daughter. She worked from home as a billing and coding specialist for Sanford Health, a healthcare delivery system in North Dakota.

Disappearance
On July 11, 2023, Jonett Wanner was last heard from when she signed off of her work computer at home in West Fargo, North Dakota, around 2:30 pm.
After finishing work, Jonett reportedly left home with her dog in her SUV, a gray 2017 Nissan Rogue with North Dakota license plates 261 AZY. Jonett never showed up for her work duties the next day and hasn’t been heard form since.
Her family filed a missing person’s report with the West Fargo Police Department when they couldn’t contact her.
Investigation
Jonett Wanner disappeared along with her dog, the dog’s bed, and her wallet. Her cell phone and purse were left behind at home. Her phone record and bank account have had no activity since she disappeared.
Jonett is originally from the Wishek-Napoleon area in North Dakota. She is also familiar with the Duluth and Sauk Lake area in Minnesota, particularly the Leaf Lake area where she used to have a lake cabin.
On August 12, 2023, her vehicle’s plate was randomly read by a Stearns County Sheriff’s Office deputy near St. Cloud, Minnesota. The deputy did not stop the vehicle at the time and didn’t recall what type of vehicle had the plates.
In August of 2023, a farmer called in with a tip stating a woman matching Jonett’s description and vehicle drove up to his shop on St. Mary’s Lake southwest of Valley City in July of 2023, asking for directions to Sweetwater Lake.
Following the tip authorities searched a trio of lakes southwest of Valley City with the help of a boat, dive team, drones, and sonar equipment, but no clues as to Jonett’s whereabouts were found.
