32-year-old Vern Richard Morris was last seen in Tooele, Utah on June 25, 2021. He disappeared after leaving home in the early morning hours while he had low blood sugar levels due to his type 1 diabetes.
Background
Vern Richard Morris was born on June 15, 1989. He has two brothers and two sisters. Morris suffers from type 1 diabetes, also known as juvenile or insulin-dependent diabetes, where the body’s pancreas makes little or no insulin.
At the time of his disappearance, Morris was living with his family at 700 South 700 West in Tooele, Utah. He loved computers and was in the process of developing his own video game.
Disappearance
On June 25, 2021, Rick Morris was last seen in the early morning hours at his residence in Tooele, Utah.
Around 1:16 am, Morris’ blood sugar level was recorded at 37 mg/dL when his mother checked on him, which was below the minimum level of 70. His family got him to eat a sandwich at 1:47 am and his blood sugar returned to normal by 1:55 am.
Morris was reportedly still slurring his speech, but he appeared to be coming around. He told his mother he was fine, that he loved her, and said good night.
At 2:30 am, his mother returned to his bedroom to double-check his blood sugar levels, but Morris was nowhere to be seen.
Vern Richard Morris never returned home and hasn’t been heard from since.
His family filed a missing persons report with the Tooele City Police Department when he failed to return home.
Investigation
Rick Morris left all of his personal belongings at home, including his laptop, medication, cell phone, and wallet. He may have left home without a shirt
He was possibly sighted walking in the area along Vine Street towards Middle Canyon in Tooele, Utah.
There have been subsequent reports that Morris was seen in Carlin, Nevada; Grantsville, Salt Lake City, Butterfield Canyon, Middle Canyon, and Settlement Canyon in Utah, or living among the homeless in the Utah State Fairpark area along Jordan River.
Whereabouts
Police found no evidence for foul play in Rick Morris’s disappearance. A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Morris’ discovery.
The circumstances of Vern Richard Morris’ disappearance remain unclear and his case is currently classified as endangered missing. His case remains unsolved.

Physical Description:
White male born on June 15, 1989. Rick has brown hair, hazel eyes, stands 6’1 – 6’2 tall, and weighs 150 – 165 pounds.
Distinctive Physical Features:
Rick was last seen with a slight beard and mustache. His front right tooth is chipped and he has an appendectomy scar on his abdomen. His fingers are calloused due to finger pricks for blood sugar.
Clothing and accessories:
Rick was last seen wearing blue Jeans, black or black/grey socks, and black tennis shoes.
