19 year old Aidan Clune was last seen in Wells, Nevada on April 26, 2022. He disappeared after traveling to Utah from his home in California.
Background
Aidan Clune was born on December 2, 2002. Aidan is from Sonoma County, California, and graduated from Sonoma Valley High School.
Described as bright and creative, Aidan’s mother says he had suffered with depression before his disappearance. He had seen therapists, but with a recent breakup and the pandemic he began to spiral.
Disappearance
On April 26, 2022, Aidan Clune left his home in Sonoma County, California and traveled to Utah.
Aidan then traveled to Nevada, where he purchased fuel at a gas station in Wendover before traveling to Wells and checking in to a hotel for the evening.
Aidan checked out of the hotel at 6:23 am on April 27, 2022. This is the last confirmed sighting of him. Aidan Clune hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
Investigation
At 8:50 am on April 28, 2022, Aidan’s vehicle, a 2007 red Nissan Frontier pickup truck, was found abandoned by authorities near Currie on US-93 (about 50 miles south of Wells).
The vehicle had a damaged back bumper and duct tape on the driver’s side mirror. Some of his personal belongings, including his wallet and knife, were found inside the car, but there was no sign of Aidan.
An aerial search team followed his tracks in a southwest direction for more than 10 miles before losing the trail. He was heading into the desert, and his footprints indicate he took off his shoes at some point and was running part of the time.
Nearly 1,700 man hours were spent searching the Cherry Creek Mountain Range area, covering hundreds of miles with K-9 units, volunteers, aircraft, and ATVs, but no additional clues as to Aidan’s whereabouts were found.
On May 24, 2022, the search for Aidan was suspended.
Aidan did not have any warrants or anything that would cause him to run from authorities. Investigators believe he may have been suffering from a mental episode that caused him to leave his vehicle and make efforts to not be found.
Aidan’s mother spoke to him on the morning of the 27th, where he indicated he had trouble going to sleep. She pleaded with him to come home, and asked him where he was but he wouldn’t tell her. She believes he may have been suffering from a primary psychosis.
To this day, none of Aidan’s personal belongings have been found in the mountain range.
Whereabouts
The location of Aidan Clune remains unknown. A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his recovery.
His case is currently classified as endangered missing and remains unsolved.
Appearance
White male born on December 2, 2022. Aidan has brown hair, brown eyes, stands 5’9 tall, and weighs 125 pounds. He has a smiley face tattoo on his abdomen, and the Oakland A’s logo on his ankle.
Clothing & Accessories:
Aidan was last seen wearing a black North Face coat, dark colored pants, and black high-top sneakers.
