On November 9, 2022, Benson shared a pie for breakfast with his wife that they had bought the day before.

That evening, Benson had dinner with his wife and some friends at Bill’s Fish House, a fish restaurant in Waurika, Oklahoma. The couple later parted ways when his wife left for a planned girl’s trip to Branson, Missouri.

Benson returned home alone around 8:00 pm and brought dinner out to his son who was working in the fields on their property.

Grady’s cellphone, wallet, car keys, and red jacket were found inside his pickup truck, which was found unlocked in the carport. The doors to his house and garage were found locked, and all of his vehicles were left on the property.

Benson left behind a new pair of boots next to his favorite chair inside his house, with a pair of socks laid on top of them. The pie he had bought with his wife was left untouched in the fridge.

His wife doesn’t believe he ever made it back inside the house after he left dinner with their son on November 9, since none of the food they had bought had been touched.
